History has shown, time and again, that humanity often turns a blind eye to the tragedies of fratricidal conflict, failing to learn from its past. Yet, on the very second day of the Russia-Ukraine war, Professor Weixin Xu chose not to remain silent. Armed with nothing but his iPad, he began to confront reality with a digital brush, capturing a world engulfed in flames.
His ongoing project, Ukraine Every Day|乌克兰的每一天, now comprises over 1,150 powerful images — a relentless visual chronicle of war and resilience. In a time when indifference is easy, Xu Weixin’s work reminds us of the artist’s role: to witness, to remember, and to respond.
