Wei Jia, DMA

Dr. Wei Jia is an internationally acclaimed violinist and chamber musician whose performances have taken him across the United States, China, Japan, Singapore, Germany, France, and Luxembourg. He has appeared at renowned venues such as the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts (Kansas City), the National Opera Center (New York), and the Guiyang Grand Theater. His musical journey has also included collaborations and appearances at leading institutions like Michigan State University, Minzu University of China, and Friedrich-Alexander University in Germany.
A native of Guizhou, China, and the grandson of celebrated composer Jizhou, Dr. Jia began violin studies under his father and later studied with Mr. Hu Shuang. He earned degrees from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, the University of Central Oklahoma, and Michigan State University, where he studied under Professors Walter Verdehr and Dmitri Berlinsky. He performs on a rare 1899 Paul Blanchard violin, generously entrusted to him by Professor Verdehr.
A passionate music educator, Dr. Jia currently serves as an adjunct professor of violin, viola, and chamber music at the University of Central Oklahoma. He has conducted masterclasses and lecture-recitals worldwide, inspiring the next generation of musicians with his thoughtful, cross-cultural approach to teaching.
In 2024, Dr. Jia co-founded Pinease, a Manhattan-based nonprofit dedicated to reimagining the classical music experience. Through innovative programming, interdisciplinary collaboration, and educational outreach, Pinease brings together artists, thinkers, and audiences in a shared space of creativity and dialogue. Drawing from his global perspective and deep commitment to cultural connection, Dr. Jia plays a central role in shaping the organization’s vision and artistic direction.
