Dr. Shanrong Tuo is an accomplished violin soloist who has given solo recitals and concerto performances across the United States, Singapore, Israel, and China. She has appeared in numerous world-renowned concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center, the Esplanade and Victoria Concert Hall in Singapore, the Grand Hall of the Liszt Academy in Hungary, and Xi’an Concert Hall in China. In 2013, her performance of Vivaldi’s Winter with the Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic at Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Music Hall was broadcast in full by WQED Radio and received high acclaim.
As an active chamber musician, Shanrong has collaborated with distinguished artists including Jennifer Frautschi and members of the Emerson String Quartet. She has been invited to perform at several major festivals such as the Stony Brook Chamber Music Festival, the Starry Nights Concert Series, and the Violin Arts Series, showcasing her exceptional artistry and depth in chamber music.
Shanrong Tuo holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Violin Performance from Stony Brook University, where she studied with Jennifer Frautschi, Philip Setzer, and Hagai Shaham. She earned her Master’s degree in Violin Performance and Orchestral Studies, as well as an Artist Diploma, from Carnegie Mellon University on a full scholarship, studying under Cyrus Forough, a student of David Oistrakh. Before pursuing her studies in the United States, she completed her undergraduate degree at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore under Alexander Souptel, former concertmaster of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.
