Junhong Zhou
Violinist

Dr. Junhong Zhou, a native of Guiyang, China, began his violin studies at the age of four under the guidance of his uncle. His formal training led him to the Affiliated Middle School of the Sichuan Conservatory of Music in 2005, followed by the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree. In early 2013, he joined the Guiyang Symphony Orchestra.
In 2017, Dr. Zhou moved to the United States to pursue advanced studies. He subsequently earned his Master of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance from the University of Iowa.
From 2021 to 2023, Dr. Zhou served as Associate Concertmaster of the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra. As the first violinist of the Kaydenn Quartet, he performed extensively across Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois. In March 2023, he secured a violin position with the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra. Shortly thereafter, in May 2023, he was invited to become a Chamber Music Residency with the Knox-Galesburg Symphony.
Currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Dr. Zhou performs with the San Francisco Philharmonic. In addition to his performing and teaching career, he is actively involved in arts administration and community outreach. He serves as a Public Relations Officer for the Chinese Music Teachers Association of Northern California, a council Member of Guiyang Musicians Association - the Ma Si-cong Music Research Institute, and a member of the Guizhou International Cultural Association.
