Joenne Dumitrascu
Violinist
Dumitrascu began her musical studies in violin and piano. She continued college studies at the RCM’s Glenn Gould Professional School (B. Mus., A.D.), The Boston Conservatory at Berklee College (M.M.), and additional training in Europe. She completed her Doctorate in Musical Arts at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
The winner of the 2011 Glenn Gould Chamber Music Competition, Dumitrascu has toured internationally at such venues as Koerner Hall, Carnegie Hall, La Scala, and the Romanian Atheneum, and recorded for CBC Toronto, WGBH Boston, and WFMT Chicago. Dumitrascu was Concertmaster of the Boston Opera Co. and has performed in the orchestra of the National Ballet of Canada/Canadian Opera Company. She has worked on several film/TV projects including Chloe, Resident Evil 7, and recording work with the Screen Composers' Guild of Canada.
Currently Chair at JSE Music Education Corp., an elite pre-college music training program in NYC, she was an Undergraduate Department chamber music coach at SUNY Stony Brook from 2015 to 2021. Dumitrascu is also Artistic Director of the Solomon Mikowsky International Music Competition for young artists, and regularly appears as guest lecturer/clinician.
